How Buffrey Started
How Buffrey Started
History written by The Late Betty Neath.
Our son Paul had asked for a Dalmatian for his Birthday and after some difficulty we managed to buy a liver spotted puppy bitch from Mrs Gladys Ellis, who had a litter sired by Ch Tantivey Brill, named Stonecross Silba.
After some years, we mated Stonecross Silba to Northpleck Arden Lad owned by the North’s and in January 1966 we were pleased to have our first litter of 7 puppies. Arthur North persuaded us to keep and exhibit Daniel Pride Of Buffrey and so we embarked on a very enjoyable pastime. Having made many many friends and having received much help and advice and commaradie from Arthur who became Sally-Ann’s Godfather when she was born some years later.
A short while later we noticed a litter being advertised locally which we went to see and subsequently brought two beautiful black spotted bitches for £12.00 each. One of which Arthur purchased from us and named her Northpleck North Star, the other bitch we kept and named Debra Bride Of Buffrey who became a wife for Daniel and they subsequently produced Buffrey Belle Of The Ball.

We have since made up many lovely Dalmatians starting with Ch Buffrey Savannah who produced our well known Ch & Am Ch Buffrey Jobee, who gained 31 CC’s and still holds the CC Record for Livers, he was also Top Stud Dog All Breeds in America in 1989. Amongst others there were the two lovely litter sisters Ch Buffrey Arrabelle at Daedalus and Ch Buffrey Ysabelle who were awarded 56 CC’s between them with Arrabelle who was owned and campaigned by Janice Petersen breaking all records at that time. From our last litter Sally-Ann made up Ch Buffrey Sprig O Mint , who will be the last champion bred by Joe & I with Sally-Ann now taking over as she has handled since 1982, when she showed Ch Buffrey Bellajo Of Buffrey in her first group placing.
There have been 18 Champions bred by Joe & I as well as Sally-Ann both here and overseas.
Sad news to report that my dad - Joe passed away in September 2012, he will be dearly missed.
